Get Out & Go Tours LLC was formed in 2007 by Tom Knoerzer, who, having led guided tours on the C&O Canal since 1987, saw the need to expand supported bike touring services and bike rentals in the Washington-Capital's trail-rich area. Tom's passion for cycling and extensive experience as an outdoor guide, plus his entreprenuerial spirit are reflected on Get Out & Go tours, and they have inspired clients to return for as many as eight consecutive years, to experience what they call the best planned tours they have ridden. No other company has as much experience leading tours on the C&O Canal and Great Allegheny Passage trails, and touring with Get Out & Go Tours is to tour with the best C&O Canal tour provider available. Get Out & Go Tour guides are a diverse group of professional outdoor individuals, who have outstanding interpersonal skills plus the passion to share their knowledge with each of our guests. Our guides are trained extensively in bike skills and maintenance, first aid and CPR, local & natural history plus group dynamic skills. Get Out & Go Tours supports local businesses in the areas we operate our bike tours, to ensure that these trail communities will benefit from our presence, and we are proud of the relationships we have formed with the small communities along the trail. We are active in trail activities in the Mid Atlantic region, are an authorized commercial tour operator within the C&O Canal National Historic Park, and the company founder has been an active member of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a national trail advocacy group, since 1988, including several years as a Trailblazer Society member.
